my most essential D.C. everyday items:
1. pocket moleskine (for all things significant and otherwise)
2. hi-tec-c 0.25 mm japanese stationery pen (this is the site I get these..cheap and pretty reliable)
3. smartrip. can't leave home without it!
4. rosebud salve. comes in gloss form now, but I like the pot. plus, I live a few blocks away from the huge Sephora in Georgetown.

isn't this a cute idea? i don't know if i would take the risk that someone i love wouldn't blow it up. via FPO.

nina's 90th birthday at inchmark.

I'm in such a party-throwing mood and also love my grandmother--which is why I really enjoyed reading about Nina's 90th birthday on Inchmark.

also because of this party-throwing mood, I am super excited for my 3rd annual Valentine's party.

and I'm thinking about throwing a half-birthday party on Feb. 20. what do you think?

$1 bowl from d.i.

this milk glass candy dish I found yesterday at the D.I. for one American dollar has made me so happy. I really love it.

current interests.

I'm enjoying myself during the first week back to school. and taking advantage of the time I have to do a little posting. these past few weeks I have gained a few interests:

1. I discovered the OraBrush while watching this little video. and come to find out, their headquarters are in Springville, Utah. now, I haven't used mine yet because I just got it in the mail--but I'm really looking forward to it. they are offering them for free--pay for shipping and handling. if you are in the Utah Valley area, I would opt to pick it up from their offices. I paid $7.99 for my s+h and when I looked on my package it only cost them $1.98.

2. Dave Farmar yoga podcasts. I learned about Dave Farmar while listening to free 20-minute yoga downloads from iTunes. thanks to Melissa and Dani I've been running and doing a little yoga afterward.

3. Dave Salmoni and Into the Pride. I have been coming home at 5 to watch this show on Animal Planet. I love it so much. this decent-looking man is just living with a pride of lions in Africa and it looks like so much fun. the landscape is beautiful and I just love those lions. plus, Animal Planet doesn't skimp on drama. I also watched Wild Recon tonight, but it wasn't nearly as good as Into the Pride. besides, I like lions a lot more since I met Christian.

polyvore.

I discovered polyvore via this blog and thought it was neat. if I had more time I could actually do it instead of just blog about it. someday. but it's a site that allows you to make your own collage with a million different products and images. I thought it was pretty clever.

yard sale placemats.

even though my family is putting together a yard sale for this weekend, I picked up these placemats at a yard sale last weekend. Meg + I used to say that if something was ugly, just give it to us because we probably think it's cute. that's how I feel about these. they're so ugly that they are cute. in my old apartment, these never would have stood a chance. but I think they might be just the right touch in a newer, more maintained apartment (with no matching wallpaper and couches).

what do you think? should I keep them?

5.14.2009

friends on etsy.

Erica's shop: Sweet Ivy Girl.

Ariel's shop sells fun journals, feather headbands, and cards.

don't I have the most talented and creative friends?

postcup.

I saw this gift idea (from Bailey Doesn't Bark) in June's issue of Real Simple. it's a darling little idea for someone far from home.

everyday.

I'm in love with this paper line by American Crafts. every once in a while--paper like this hits me like a ton of bricks and I have to buy way too much of it.  the last design was boy scouts.

8.18.2008

dinnerware.

I really like the variety of dinnerware that Fish's Eddy has. I love this memo mug, and would love to have one of each. found via {A}.

7.03.2008

new journal.

i am so pleased with myself. i finished a journal a few days ago, and buying a new one is so exciting and nearly ceremonial.   i found this one at grun. both are delightful.

5.08.2008

chaunte vaughn.

Chaunte Vaughn, a recent BYU photography graduate, had her BFA show at the library.  I decided to check it out in the deep basement of the library, and because it is BYU, they could not display it all, so I checked it out on her website. it is really good stuff. I am impressed by her work and credentials.  get to know her better on her blog

blue t-shirt.

well, in all my nothingness last week I went shopping like 3 times. terrible, I know. I was in one of those moods and wandered in to The Gap, where I found myself in love with this plain little pocket v-neck t-shirt. (and I definitely agree with Jordan that the website always has funny awkward pictures) it is a lot cuter in person/on. so, I bought one.  i haven't been happier about a purchase in a very long time.

also, I've always had trouble buying things that are royal blue because it just screams Dixie High to me.  (I also never wear gold + green, or black + maroon...) but for some reason, I've been feeling drawn to that particular shade of blue lately.

3.30.2008

pikaland.

i came across pikaland while visiting theodesign.  it is a lovely gathering of all things illustration.  you ought to visit.  (it is a little overwhelming because it is a place where people can sell all their illustrations, but if you have a few, definitely browse!)

3.28.2008

mexican dress.

love this dress at on.

3.11.2008

shoe source.

go jane, a shoe source. among other things i'm sure. it seems like i'm always going on zappos or overstock and being disappointed. glad to have found this little site. purchased the maryjane heels in black tonight. definitely better uses of my money + time. but a great shoe source. i don't know why i like those ones with the big crown, i just do.

found via yho.
