hunger banquet.

tonight i went to one of the coolest things ever. put on by the byu students for international development, this is definitely one of the most memorable parts of college. everyone pays for a $8 ticket and there are 3 economic classes. you have a 15% chance of being put in the upper-class: linen table-cloth, fully seated table, crystal goblets, all-you-can-eat dinner plus dessert. you have a 25% chance of being in the middle-class. chairs and pizza. the remaining 60% are placed on the floor on blankets, where they share a small plate of rice and beans with small flour tortillas. i was in the remaining 60%. of course i was glad to be on the floor. it was interesting to see how much people shared down below. no one wanted to take anything for themselves. especially while greed and corruption roamed around the banquet, sleezily clad in white suits and top hats.

shared among 6 people.
my portion.

i am fully committed to my major as print-journalism.  but most journalism majors get a minor or two.  i'm thinking international relations or something of that nature.  i haven't looked into it a whole lot and i think it is common for young college students to be lit with a fire to change the world with.  i just love people who do stuff like this.  stop the looking inward, yes?

"overcoming poverty is not an act of charity.  it is an act of justice.  like slavery + apartheid, poverty is not natural.  it is man-made and can be overcome and eradicated.  sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great.  you can be that generation.  let your greatness blossom."

"for as long as there's a man in prison, i am also in prison: for as long as there is a man who goes hungry and without clothes, i am also hungry and without clothes."
