happy st. p's day.

claire, an up-and-coming photographer at byu, sister kate's freshman roommate, and a new found friend of mine asked me to sit for some portraits for her--playing with color.  the studio was amazing.  i was dying i didn't have my camera. it was such a fun--my first + last--modeling experience.  thanks claire (who i can't get to start a photography blog. bummer.) congratulations on your engagement.

went into the american heritage office today to officially accept.  they handed over a brand spankin' new text book, which i plan to read intently + multipl-y.  i felt like a million bucks.  can't wait.

everyone at byu was luckily clad in green today.  i was so grateful.  i love dressing up + getting into the spirit + truly celebrating.  those pinch-deserving, red-wearing grouches can't spoil my holiday.  i counted up the holidays i celebrate and there are 11. 11 out of 365 days, we get to do something slightly out of the ordinary. now, tell me if that 3% chance of landing on a holiday isn't worth wearing green.  one girl i talked to said 'i actually looked at my green shirts and said, no. i'm american.' i guffawed.  the nerve.

well, i report proudly that i was nowhere near alone in my genuine love for the day and the color. in high school, i always loved being 'spirited.' i don't recall going completely insane and painting my body green or wearing a santa hat (i might have worn a santa hat.) but i still loved the spirit. and loved those that shared my affinity.  at age 16, however, my excitement was...rare.  it was always a gamble of looking like a fool on those days.  more than probably i succumbed to my fear of ridicule at least once.  so today, i was so grateful to be among people just like me.  unfortunately, i once again forgot my camera. but almost everyone was wearing green.  byu is like revenge of the really cheesy people.  being super lame is totally mainstream.  i love it.  i belong here. happy st. p's day.

i'm a sucker for any reason to celebrate--especially if it involves dressing up. seems like those occasions become fewer and fewer the older you get--but i'm still in denial about that
